My Blog
back againWe caught up with friends at Docklands and had a sumptous dinner of lamb shanks and fish & chips on Friday, 11th Oct, 2013. By midnight, I felt a bit of pain in my chest and subsequently popped 2 anti-acid for relief. As the minutes ticked, the pain became intense and unbearable and many thoughts raced in my mind - bad food, something really bad, heart attack, etc. At 2am+, I interrupted my dear wife in her sleep and was driven to emergency at Cabrini. By that time I was pale and my blood pressure was 188 (a lucky number!). I had the ECG readings prepared for me and that seems normal and the pain still persisted. Blood was drawn for tests on enzymes to check for signs I was given morphine jab and that quickly subsided the pain. They took an x-ray, clever way of sending the radiologist + machine to my bedside to take a shot, how convenient. At 9am, I was wheeled to the ultrasound department for a scan. Good news is that I am cleared in the cardio areas but ultrasound shows a 2.1 cm stone in my gall bladder and it is inflamed. An operation was scheduled for Sunday at 0800hrs and the sepcialist told me that there is a 20% chance per year my gall bladder needs to be removed if I don't do this. He was happy for me to re-schedule the operation as the pain was gone and I wasfeeling well now. The removal was completed around 11am Sun and there was little pain and I was fed with anti-biotics and othr drugs. Checked out of Cabrini Hospital on Tue morning and now back at work o Friday with assistance from my dear wife for driving and carrying my notebook bag.
Well, I joined the ranks of many who are living without the gall bladder and advice is to eat less fatty and spicy foods. In hindsight, when you are getting some initial indigestion pains, go to see your doc and perhaps get an ultrasound scan. It helps with early detection. Now, when can we plan to fish at Wonboyn? On other fronts it has been busy. Work-wise, we are doing a lot of interesting things, e.g. Rotary Ramble project (www.rotaryramble.com) for an event in Perth on 9th Oct 2011, and also finally updated our websites to be reflective of all the hard work done over the years and the achievements: www.qmani.com and www.sntribes.com. We just completed a charity event, Relay for Life, in support of the good work of the Cancer Council. This was touching for me and also everyone who provided their generous donations and support. Many thanks to everyone, especially to my dearest wife, Regina who spent a lot of sleepless night planning for this event. Camping at Albert Park Lake as partof the Relay for Life was great, especially with friends, family and supporters dropping by to support our GoLife team. The choice of this charity cause was non-specific for me. I thought that it would be nice to get a number of friends, family and supporters together to do something for charity. Hopefully this would then be the catalyst for everyone to get involved in their own way in helping others. Unfortunately, cancer has affected many people and almost all of us would know of family or friends who have been affected by this horrible disease. At the Relay for Life event it was touching to see the cancer survivors, the remembered ones and more so the young teenagers and adults who got involved in supporting this cause. As I lay on my back, two weeks+ from my osteotomy and MACI cartilage implant for my left knee, many things spin in my head. Maybe we call this fishing withdrawal symptoms and perhaps a good time to start on one of my pet projects - getting a website to join friends together in our love of fishing but more important the central theme is "We Go Fishing". The focus is "We" and this is the sharing in the vagaries of the weather, serenity and wild beauty of the surf beaches, and enjoying the fruits of our labour. I hope we can also capture the memories of these fishing outings, trips, retreats and adventures. Well, friends, here it is, the www.wegofishing.com.au website, version 1.0! I hope you can enjoy the content and more so contribute your own experiences, tips and comments to WeGoFishing. Please feel free and I appreciate your valuable comments in making this WeGoFishing website one where all of us will re-visit and find useful from time to time. You can use the comments feature in this website or if you prefer, send an email to: admin@wegofishing.com.au. Thanks for visiting.
